Point of View Feature and a Printables Party

Thanks to everyone who linked up their projects at the Point of View Gifts Link Party last Friday.

Printable: Color Your Own Halloween Paper Dolls

Last fall I had a bunch of requests for a black and white version of my Halloween Paper Dolls printable so that kids can color the dolls and costumes themselves. It took me about a year to get around to doing it, but I've finally done it...

At least I got it done before Halloween came around again, right? :)

I think people figured it was just a matter of deleting the color from the original version, but it was more complicated than that. The fill colors were hiding overlapping lines that I needed to cover or erase to make the black and white version. It took some time, but I'm glad I did it. My oldest was happy to get her hands on them...

Same six costumes as the color version: superhero (boy and girl), pirate, fairy, Frankenstein, and princess.

Instructions: Print on white cardstock at 100% (no scaling). Color paper dolls and costumes. Carefully cut out each paper doll, base, and costume. Cut slits in bases on solid black lines. Fold stand bases on dotted line. Match up slits in doll bases and stand bases to assemble. Fold back all costume tabs to dress dolls.

Tip: Last year several people attached magnets to the paper dolls and costumes so kids could play with them on the fridge. It makes it much easier for younger children to dress up these dolls when they don't have to use the little tabs :)

Last year I also had some requests for non-Halloween clothing for the paper dolls... uh... :) What can I say? I've found that my creative interests have moved away from the printables. That doesn't mean that I'll never make them... maybe I'll surprise you one day ;)

Printable: Winter Recipe Cards, Labels, and Cupcake Toppers

Before I share my new printable today, I want to thank everyone for being so patient while I get my "sew-jo" back (Thanks Amy for putting words to my creative issues!). My new sewing closet is about 80% complete. I just need to wire up a new electrical outlet and do a little decorating. I'm dying to show it to you guys... it turned out 10 times better than I ever expected. Hopefully by the beginning of next week I can give you the big reveal. I have six different projects worked out in my head, and I'm itching to get sewing again, so I'm on my way back!

Now to the printables. Back in August I made a set of printable autumn recipe cards and canning labels. I also made a set of matching autumn cupcake toppers. I've decided to do a set for each season using the same tree design but changing it up for each season. Here are my winter printables (with original graphics created by me). This is perfect timing, too. We woke up to over a foot of snow this morning. I can't complain at all because some parts of Connecticut got over two feet last night! Here's a look at the door into our garage...

The entire state shut down. Even my husband had a snow day!

Holiday Wall Art and a Printable

Remember back in November when I put together a bunch of fall printables that I found around blogland to create a nice display on the wall in my hallway? Well, squirrels and acorns weren't going to cut it in December. I changed out the pictures in the frames to create a new display for the holidays...

Since I already hung the frames at Thanksgiving time, this was a quick change out and a great way to change up my decor. Here's where you can find each piece...

The subway art comes from eighteen25. I love the colors on this. There were so many great Christmas subway art printables out there to choose from, but this was my favorite!

The Noel printable comes from my friend Kristin over at Betty Crocker Wannabe. She also made one in green, but I love the gray. Unfortunately this printable was only offered for a limited time and is not available on her blog. Sorry!

I found the picture of the little girl baking by doing a Google Images search for "vintage Christmas baking."

I also wanted an iconic Santa Clause image. Another Google Images search for "vintage Santa" eventually brought me to this...

I was then left with my 5" square frame and no idea what to put in it. I tried searching for an image of a vintage ornament or a reindeer, but nothing really fit in with all the other frames. So, I took matters into my own hands and made this...

Really plain and simple, but I love it! And, in case you love it, too, you can download it HERE...

I made it 5" x 7" since this is a popular frame size. If you happen to have a 5" square frame like I do, just cut an inch off the top and the bottom of the printable.

Now my wall is all set for the holidays. The only problem is that I'm going to have to change it again in a couple of weeks, but it's actually a lot of fun to find new printables and ideas to fill the frames with. I'll probably go with a winter theme next.

Printable: Thanksgiving Place Cards

When I was a kid, I made place cards for every major holiday. It's not like we really needed them, but they always added a nice festive touch to the table. And there's something about seeing your name at the table that makes you feel all warm and fuzzy inside. So I have a printable for you today... two sets of Thanksgiving place cards (with original graphics created by me).

The first set is my personal favorite. They are about 3" tall by 3.5" wide, so they're a bit bigger than your average place card, but I love them... especially the turkey!

I think he would look especially cute on the kids' table at Thanksgiving dinner.

Many of you probably recognize the acorn graphics from some of my previous printables (like this and this).

I just can't get enough of the acorns! And there's a whole lot of acorn love out there at this time of year. They would look perfect on the table for Thanksgiving.

Since some people may find these large place cards to be a bit too chunky for their liking, I also created a smaller set. They are 1.5" tall by 3.25" wide.

These are just as cute but on a smaller scale. And I love the little scallop border!

So there you have it... six different place cards to mix and match as you choose for your holiday table. They could also be used for scrapbooking!
