Cutest Thing Ever: Penguins in Sweaters

It has been waaayyy too long since I've done a Cutest Thing Ever post. The minute I saw this story, I had to share it with you. Earlier this month, an oil spill in New Zealand impacted the nation's blue penguins. In order to keep the penguins from preening their oil soaked feathers, and to keep them warm before and after rescue workers clean them up, a knitting shop in New Zealand called for knitters to make sweaters for these poor penguins...

Seriously, does it get any cuter than this?!? This knitting shop was overwhelmed with penguin sweaters! They are now stockpiling them for any future need. This is an absolutely heartwarming story. Click HERE to read it and to see more pictures of penguins in sweaters. You'll be glad you did :) Have a great weekend!

Mom's Penguin and Some Awards

Remember back in December when I shared Lucy's soda bottle penguins in one of my Cutest Thing Ever posts? Well, my mother decided that she needed to make one, and here she is...

Pretty cute, huh? She made hers smaller... she used 20 oz soda bottles instead of 2 liter bottles.

And my mother is a big knitter, so she whipped up a little hat and scarf instead of painting them on.

I love this little gal. She currently resides on the mantel in my living room.

I also wanted to mention that I received a couple of blog awards over the past few weeks. I was passed the Stylish Blogger Award by Homemaking Honeys. Stop over and check out their Holiday Ideas page... it's chock full of good stuff. I was also passed the Versatile Blogger Award by The Littlest Crafter. Make sure you check out K's craft date idea... fantastic! Thank you ladies!

There is something really neat coming up here on my little old blog. I have to keep it a secret for now, but you'll find out soon enough :) Thanks for stopping by today!

Cutest Thing Ever: Soda Bottle Penguins

It has been quite a while since I've written a Cutest Thing Ever post. When I saw this project, I knew it was time. I emailed Lucy over at Craftberry Bush to ask if I could share it with you. Warning: The cuteness you are about to witness will cause you to squeal with delight. I'm not kidding...

Are these not super adorable?!?! I am in love with them! I just want to pick them up and squeeze them.

Seriously, does it get any cuter than this? And guess what? They're made out of 2 liter soda bottles! Want one (or two, or three, or fifteen) of your own? Check out the how-to pictures over on Lucy's blog.

And while you are over at Craftberry Bush, take a look at Lucy's amazing clay jar toppers and her adorable children's advent calendar. This woman is seriously talented.

Thanks, Lucy, for letting me share your incredibly cute penguins! Want to see more "Cutest Thing Ever" posts? Click here.

P.S. Lucy gets extra cuteness points for the simple fact that she created a penguin project. We always called my grandmother "penguin", and the little guys have a special place in the hearts of my family.

Cutest Thing Ever: Sneaker Lacing Board

I saw the cutest thing last week, and I couldn't stop thinking about it. I was thinking about it before I fell asleep that night, and I woke up thinking about it the next morning. I immediately asked KJ over at Let's Go Fly a Kite if I could share it with you. Look at this...

It's a sneaker lacing board! Her daughter just got her first pair of lace-up shoes, so KJ took a picture of one of her shoes and attached it to a piece of plywood and drilled holes at the shoe eyelets. Then she added a shoelace and some cute beads This will be great practice for her little one! My favorite part is that it actually looks just like her daughter's shoe. This is just too clever and adorable. Another super cute idea that KJ wanted me to mention is using alphabet beads to spell out your child's name. Love that idea, too!

Make sure you go over and check out some of the other great projects and ideas at KJ's blog. I love her Japanese Fabric Message Board and her Pom-Pom Acorns.

Thanks, KJ, for letting me share your super cute project! Want to see more "Cutest Thing Ever" posts? Click here.
P.S. KJ gets extra cuteness points because we share a love of Julie Andrews, the cutest woman ever!

Cutest Thing Ever: Mini Caramel Apples

Over the weekend I found one of the most adorable food projects I have ever seen. It definitely deserves another “Cutest Thing Ever” post, so I asked Christy over at From Glitter to Gumdrops if I could share it with you. Take a look...

They are Mini Caramel Apples. You had me at mini, Christy! (In case you didn't know, adding the word “mini” to anything automatically ups the cuteness factor.) Christy has a great little tutorial for them posted on her blog.

I smile every time I see them. I can't wait to make some of these. Make sure you go over and check out some of the other great recipes and projects Christy has made. She just did an entire week of apple recipes. I want to try her Caramel Apple Cupcakes. And she also recently posted a tutorial for a cute back to school Post-It Note Holder.

Thanks, Christy, for letting me share. Want to see more "Cutest Thing Ever" posts? Click here. There will be another "Cutest Thing Ever" post the next time a project’s cuteness stops me in my tracks!

P.S. Christy gets extra cuteness points because we share a love of all things mini!

Cutest Thing Ever: Counting Sheep Beanbags

I saw one of the cutest projects ever last week, and I immediately had to ask Megan over at Fowl Single File if I could share it with you. Check this out...

They are fleece Counting Sheep Beanbags, and Megan has a great tutorial for them posted on her blog. You can even download templates for all of the pieces, including the numbers.

Aren't they adorable? I can't wait to try these. I'll let you know when I do. Make sure you go over and check out the other great stuff Megan has made, too, like this and this.

Thanks, Megan, for letting me share and for being the first of my occasional "Cutest Thing Ever" posts!

P.S. Megan gets double cuteness points for the name of her blog... "Fowl Single File" because "Ducks in a Row" was taken!
