Acorn Patch Pillow

“From little acorns mighty oaks do grow.”
                                ~ American Proverb

By now you all know of my love of acorns. Well, I got this idea in my head for a pillow, and I had to leave the Halloween projects behind this weekend to make this...

I l.o.v.e. this pillow. It was relatively easy to make, too. Once I took the time to draw out my design and write down a list of each piece of fabric that I needed to cut, things moved along rather quickly. The squares are from Saltbox Harvest by Moda Fabrics. I love this collection of colors and prints. Each fabric perfectly captures fall.

The acorn patch in the center is linen with four little green buttons sewn on with mustard embroidery floss. The acorn itself is wool felt. This is, of course, my favorite part of the pillow.

I love the fabric on the back, too. It ties in all of the colors from the front. It has an envelope closure so you can easily remove the 16" x 16" pillow form.

And I added another one of my little homemade tags.

This pillow turned out better than I ever could have imagined. I really do love it. It's a perfect celebration of fall!

your pillow is so sweet, I am also an acorn fan.
The patch of linen and the applique add a great dimension to the front.

Well you already know I big {heart} your pillow:) Cause I left my follower's entry comment before this one. I really like how it incorporates so many different fun fabrics but doesn't look busy. The patch with the itty bitty buttons totally does it for me:) Thanks for coming to A Crafty Soiree and sharing:) I hope you'll come back next week too, we love to see familiar faces!

I also think acorns are wonderful, I remember making little faces on them when I was a child and then putting them to bed in half a walnut shell. I love the way they have little caps on their heads!

This is so cute - love the acorn block in the center. I have a quilt top made out of Saltbox Harvest waiting to be finished, maybe it needs a matching pillow :)
