I've been away on vacation. I don't think it will be a problem to use a lighter fabric for the facing. It would certainly be easier to sew a lighter weight fabric to the heavier weight than to double up on heavy weight. I'll be interested to hear how things go.

P.S. Can't wait to see the embroidered linen version :)Gwen @ Gwenny Pennyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11885824702813908626noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6926745918748541191.post-91404783830556969352012-08-12T15:51:29.034-04:002012-08-12T15:51:29.034-04:00Just a quick follow up on my different lining ques...Just a quick follow up on my different lining question. I found some material that's a reasonable match, just moldering away in my stash, so I am going to try it out.I figure I can always use my seam ripper if it doesn't play nice with my heavier fabric!knitme23https://www.blogger.com/profile/05096845872314411400noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6926745918748541191.post-15612936975007768682012-08-11T18:49:33.592-04:002012-08-11T18:49:33.592-04:00Hello again! For my next two, I'm using (first) embroidered linen and (second) corduroy. I'm pretty much a "sew it as written" type of person, but I'm looking at my bumpy/heavy fabric and wondering if I could/should use a lighter fabric for the facing of the neckline and the pocket section. Any opinion? I love the idea of a hidden contrast (if that makes sense), but am a little concerned that difference in weight might lead to issues. I'd value your input!
