A couple weeks ago I shared some dumpling pouches that I made for my SNAP roommates using a tutorial from Michelle Patterns. I really wanted one for myself, and this birthday celebration was a great excuse to go ahead and get it done...

So here's my question: is this too bright for an adult bedroom? Do you think I should use more toned down shades of these colors? I love the way these colors look together, but I'm just afraid it's going to be too much. I'm planning on going with a white background. It may just be the yellow that's freaking me out. Any thoughts? Or am I just making more excuses ;)
Make sure you hop on over to visit Amy at Ameroonie Designs to check out this fun skirt she made...
And don’t forget to stick around all week for some projects and a fantastic giveaway on both blogs on Friday... you won't want to miss it!

Happy Birthday! I'm visiting from Amy's blog and wanted to tell you how cute that pouch is.
ReplyDeleteI think those colors will be just fine. If you're worried about the yellow, just use it sparingly, but I love the energy it gives to the rest of the colors.
ReplyDeleteAnd I love the polka dots on the dumpling pouch. :)
HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!
xoxo
Happy Birthday Gwen. I hope you get spoiled today. I love the colors you chose.
ReplyDeleteI love this pouch too! I think your colors are wonderful! As long as the colors aren't in absolutely everything in the room, I don't think you will think it is too much.
ReplyDeletehappy birthday and make your quilt your way because it's your quilt.
ReplyDeleteYay for selfish sewing ;-) and HAPPY birthday! Love your pouch, seriously need to get one of those done for myself. Maybe after the bag I already have cut out..teehee. I say use the colors you like in your quilt, you're the only one who has to like it (well and your hubs but c'mon, how picky is he? he'll like it). And if perchance you don't like it you could always gift it or donate it!
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday!
ReplyDeleteI think the quilt is a great place to add bright colors. I think the colors are definitely adult. I don't think it will be too bright unless you're painting the walls those colors too. Yipes!
ReplyDeleteI adore your colors!! Who says that an adult room has to be neutral? I love bright colors so I have finally decided to give in and use them instead of trying to be "grown up" or "in style" and making everything look Pottery Barn white :) It will look fantastic because YOU are fantastic!
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday! ^^
ReplyDeleteI liked Darcy's comment above "selfish sewing" - totally agree! Lovely work Gwen, really flawless sewing, the zipper is so perfect.
ReplyDeletePS I hope you had a Happy Mother's Day as well.
Good for you, to make such a sweet pouch for yourself! Thanks for the link!
ReplyDeleteI love those colors! And I think you should choose whatever makes you happy! :)
ReplyDeleteSweet pouch Gwen. Prettiness!
ReplyDeleteI would not get rid of the yellow. It brings warmth to your colour scheme (which is really great by the way).
HAPPY BIRTHDAY to you!
ReplyDeleteYellow is happy, lively and vibrant and if it is makes you happy then do it. :)
Dumplings are on my to do list for my college bound graduates this weekend. I'll be seeing them in my sleep.
I am sorry I am so late commenting---HB, late.....I am sure you've already chosen your colors, but I think in the right proportions, they're fun and you'll know exactly what to do with them!
ReplyDeleteI did finally make a dumpling and I LOVE it! Thanks so much for sharing the link....I just bought 20 zippers online so I see a few more of these in my Christmas-gift-making future!
Hugs,
LeAnne
