Pin It Wednesday (on Thursday): Lunch

It's been a few weeks since I've done a Pin It Wednesday post (and I'm a day late... oops!). It's back to school time, and I noticed recently that I had pinned some really great ideas for school lunches. I don't have to worry about that just yet (my oldest is starting her last year of preschool in a couple of weeks), but it's never too early to start thinking about it. Here are this week's pins...

A. Lunch Box Napkins Tutorial by Ellen Luckett Baker (the long thread) on Alpha Mom
I love the idea of using cloth napkins in a lunch box. And this set of fabric is so cute!
It would be fun to put together a set that matches each child's personality.

B. Hello Kitty Sandwich Maker (via Free Pretty Things For You)
This is just about the coolest little tool ever! My girls would go flipping crazy
for a Hello Kitty sandwich. And the cocoa powder added in the last step... LOVE!

C. Japanese Sandwich Cutters and Stamps from CasaBento
These are so freaking cute, and what a special surprise to find an adorable little animal
stamped on your little sandwich. I really want a set of these.

This tutorial includes instructions to make a bento bag and a sandwich wrap
that folds out into a place mat. This is a perfect little set for school. Adorable!

Now I've got some ideas to get the ball rolling. This is a heck of a lot different than the metal lunch box I used to carry to school :) The only one I can remember off the top of my head is Strawberry Shortcake, just like this one...

Did you have a lunch box? Do you remember who/what was on it?

Those napkins are such a sweet idea. Love that Hello Kitty sandwich maker, off to investigate further.
I had a Holly Hobbie lunch box and later had a Charlies Angels lunch box.

My daughter would love that hello kitty sandwich- I used to love strawberry shortcake. Did you have the dolls too? I had a Holly Hobby lunchbox. Don't you know I wish I could put my hands on that now!
Thanks for the trip down memory lane this morning Gwen. :)

All of those look like so much fun to play with! I almost always had school lunch as a kid, and so lunchboxes were a luxury. :)

I had a blue plastic Smurfs lunchbox. I recently saw some at Old Navy. I almost bought one for nostalgia's sake, even though they did not have the same picture.

Thank you for the smile...I did not have a lunch box but envied those who did...with a large family my folks went the brown bag route with our names written on the front. We brought the bag home at night and used them again. It worked out okay...but I enjoyed looking at Dale Evans on a few boxed with Roy Rogers riding his horse alongside of her. A standard was a tartan plaid and matching thermos. I can just smell that lunchroom smell...

I love those lunch ideas. Better than the brown paper bag I usually carried. I did have lunchboxes for awhile, one had Roy Rogers on it. But I got so good at breaking thermoses (they had glass inside) that I was left holding the bag. Oh, what a terrible pun! Forgive me.

Love the idea of the sandwich wrap/placemat and the bag is so cute! I had an metal Annie lunch box (which I of course lost) but found the thermos in my mom's basement. I then bought a similar lunchbox on ebay and have them displayed in my sewing room!

Aah, these are great idea, Gwen!

I had a teddy bear lunchbox but it would never stay shut properly and would repeatedly drop my lunch on the playground. The trauma of schooldays!!

I had that Strawberry Shortcake lunchbox, too. I always thought a matching Thermos was awesome.

My kiddies are adults now, but grandkiddies could use them (someday). They are so cute AND useful (maybe I'll make one for myself!)
My lunchbox was a metal one with small pictures of different types of trains on it. I don't think I ever used it for school though since I was only in kindergarten...I used paper bags in Jr. & Sr. High School.
